about marigold.

I graduated in a degree in Social Anthropology in 2004, it is a subject that I take a deep interest in and although I do not directly use it in my career it informs the way I paint and the way I live.

I have worked and exhibited as a portrait painter in East Sussex, Surrey and Kent and am currently living in Tunbridge Wells. I have always painted in oils and find it the most expressive medium for portraiture, which is my main source of inspiration and motivation. However, I do take an interest and get enjoyment from a broad range of subject matter and appreciate all sorts of painting styles. I have recently started using acrylics and have been enjoying experimenting with still-life subjects, but portraiture will always be at the heart of my painting.

I regularly take portrait commissions and welcome any enquiries. I paint from both live sittings and photographs. When working from photographs I feel it is important to meet the sitter, if at all possible, and take the pictures myself in order to get a more accurate likeness.
